Kunzea ericoides (Kanuka) burns exceptionally well.

super hot heat makes you rush around the house opening windows to let

the heat out.

might be a tad difficult to find over in these parts however!

Love the smell of Cupressus macrocarpa burning.

I actually prefer a mixture, that way if I am cooking i can pick out the softwoods which have a longer flame and get the hotplate going on the rayburn, if I am roasting I pick out a few hardwoods which build up agood bed of embers and really get the oven hot, I can get the oven on my rayburn pushing 350C which makes amazing authentic pizzas. We were burning pure beech for a while recently and I have to say it is very good, boiled the water in the system a couple of times.:001_smile:

I too can cut down an ash and that evening log it and using kindling made from the logs get the fire going lovely- started the easy way with a fire lighter.

Don't see what the problem is.

Everything burns like a furnace really- when i open the door i am guarding myself from the heat.

Last month I dropped some alder off to a customer- he thought it was oak

No wonder people get ripped off.

Only charged him diesel money as some of it was rotten
