Well i've been felling alders all day and decided to break out the mill. Thought id have a play on the alder as i've got a monster piece of western red to do next week... Oh is alder any good for anything? im new to milling but already hooked!

My alder and spruce timber frame. Time will tell I guess. I think it's ok either submerged in water or permanently dry. Makes the best gun powder charcoal I'm told

Looks good and well done for just getting it cut and then putting it in situ...

 

I bet that'll dry fine and stay solid.

Yeah, surprisingly it's hardly shrunk at all, no cracks whatsoever. It's right behind the woodstove too!
