fire guard

Recommended Posts

hi guys, we have had our fire opened up for the last 2 months and have got by with a cheap and cheefull wee fireguard, but now my youngest has started crawling, does anyone have a fireguard they no longer use that they would like to sell or can recommend a good one for someone with kids, not looking for bespoke, i am looking for practicality and safety. thanks guys:thumbup1:

thanks guys, if you met my 2 boys you would know this thing has to be made with h beams, and as far as keeping him off the matt, well i will try it, but the little monkey will just try and burn it lol

I guess the mat idea will work better when he is a bit older. It was funny to watch a 4 yr old reading the riot act to his grandfather for going too near the logburner though

When my oldest was tiny, I had one of those childproof guards, and it really worked well. Until I moved it to stoke the fire, he squeezed through quickly, pitched forward and stuck his hand on the grate. That had more effect on him than words or telling offs would ever have. He never ever came near the fire again when the guard was away. A harsh lesson learned the hard way. And it also goes to prove that however careful you are, the little devils are a jump ahead.
