Sycamore Tree health advice needed

Hey AHPP, Yeah that's cool, there is a nice little woodland triangle I used to walk between a couple fields, probably 10 meters wide and the length of the field finishing in a point. I guess it acts as a buffer between the two field height levels, great for a nice walk. Is that part of assarting?

I don't follow.

Perhaps unrelatedly, the process of building the base of a hedge up by shovelling soil at it is known as casting up. I couldn't even tell you off the top of my head why it's done. Some west country bumpkin on here will know.

How do you tell if it was  assarting rather than planted or self seeded on the bank ?

Coppiced trees can live alot longer than  as maidens so its probably very  old?

Banks degrade/ collaspe over time need upkeep to  maintain the original profile, in wales they have various styles and are called Cloddiau similar to the ones in the west country etc.

You (I) don’t know. They just seem like that sometimes. Very unscientific I’m afraid. I might have never seen one and have just bullshitted myself.
