Before I built the Lockdown Splitter I borrowed this big vertical splitter on the front linkage of the Fastrac

 

Cone splitter on Matbro seemed like a good idea at the time.......

 

 

Then onto the Lockdown Splitter

Daisy Etta  Caterpillar D7 was working well until it pushed the static axe out of the ground which was set in a ton of concrete!

 

I just love splitting wood mainly economic but partly therapeutic

Still find a place for the useful Portek electric kinetic though,just handy to have near the stove.

 

Bill , on the Portek vid the second log ( bigger in dia than the first ) when the ram hit it sounded like the pinion spun on the rack ? Just wondered why you did not take a split off center ( like you would on a big round with an axe ) to avoid it stalling seeing as how you were going to split it multiple times anyway ?

I had a 7 ton mittox electric splitter on a stand, only used it a few times on big nasty bits and it did ok. Was a faff to get in and out the shed clean it and put it away, axe and maul much more convenient and eventually sold the splitter to a friend who also hardly uses it !

Would he be interested in selling it and where is it  (i'm in Scotland so if you are t'other end of the country this is probably the most important question) ?
