Log Splitter has lost power

Hi Everyone

I have a 5 ton electric/hydraulic log splitter for splitting firewood.

It didn’t seem to have as much guts as usual when I used it today, eventually it didn’t even have the force to split an easy piece of conifer!

I checked the oil level on the dip stick and it’s all ok. The lever is pressing the spring loaded switch in fully. The ram is returning fine.

Any ideas on what to check?

Make and model  JTF 520

Thanks

I’d say it’s likely to be a hydraulic issue. Maybe a solenoid sticking?

I was wondering if some of the seals had gone. Anyway to test the solenoid?

Has the oil been changed recently?

The oil was changed around 4 months ago?

looks clean compared to mine it will be the ram seal that's leaking you can get the bits for repairs but i found it hard getting it back together (no experience) i later found you could buy the whole thing and just slot it in but its a few years ago now

I’ve tried making sure it’s level, elevating the wedge end slightly. Using a shorter extension lead, still no luck!

Do I take it apart now to visually inspect the ram seals? Where can I order parts from?

can the pressure be adjusted? I’ve noticed a grub screw below the lever mechanism.

Thanks
