Depends very much on how much uv degradation there is, which in turn will depend on how the rope was lying/hanging.  We charter out sailing boats and their halyards are predominantly 10 and 12mm polyester or dyneema braid.  They are out in the air all year round and agenerally last 10 years or so.  However, (1) this is the west coast of Scotland so UV is pretty low, and (2) pulling up a 40kg sail is somewhat different to hanging a person off it!

The freezing shouldn't affect them IMHO

THERE IS ROPE(TREEHOG 13 MM) IN MY GARDEN SWINGS 7 YEARS, ABSOLUTELY SOUND,ALL STRENGTH IS IN THE CORE SO if sheath is sound ,i think its absolutely safe, if termination is sewn, check that very carefully.

Sorry but I don't believe thats correct. Rock climbing rope or kernmantle rope has all the strength in the core, but not arborist ropes. Someone better than me should be able to clarify that though.

You're quite right, and he's wrong.

Water and freezing will not affect the strength of the rope. The biggest risk is UV which is quite observable to eye and usually isn’t much of a risk, especially less than a year outdoors.

But like other have said. If your not sure, then a new ropes not that expensive.
