Yes Stubby. You’re right, yellow poplar is one of the names the Yanks give to the Tulip tree, because over there I guess it grows like poplar.

In reality the Tulip tree is actually part of the magnolia family. I only know this because we planted an Avenue of Tulips on the estate I work on, so I researched the tree.

Also known Stateside as Rainbow Poplar due to the occasional rainbow array of colours of the timber in a mature specimen
