Tgey had to send it to Southampton because they couldn’t do it on site. 
 

Id pointed out the areas I could see. When it came back from Southampton and I got under the ramp at the dealership, they had done the areas I had previously pointed out but left all the other very obvious areas....

 

Talk about muppets!

 

I think early wax oil is the only viable alternative but it is shocking that it should be needed.

This . Get the hose and nozel and spray it inside the chassis rail as well .

Otterburn, the Gateway to Hell! I drove a 2 series long wheel base from Bovington to Otterburn with a horsebox, 13 and a half hours.

If you go down that rout can highly recommend a place in Tavi. Had my old 09 plate Hilux done there. Took it back for a free inspection recently and its still spot on

Before I bought my '19 Ranger, I looked at an L200 in Newcastle. Pne local owner from new, 18 plate, less than 20,000 miles on the clock. Looked great topside. Crawled underneath and it was orange brown everywhere. Not a trace of black paint left. Touch the chassis and rust flakes fell to the floor. I doubt it would have made it to 30K without holes somewhere. It was definitely headed for an advisory at its next MOT. 

 

The Ranger I bought was pretty good underneath so I had it waxoyled before i bought it. 

Still the odd spot where the orange has crept in so I'm going to take it to these people next month:

Agreed!

 

Youd be excused for thinking the manufacturers don’t actually want their vehicles to last longer than 5 years. 
 

The (only) time I regretted letting the 110 go in favour of the Hilux was when I lightly bumped a granite wall with the hind ¼ of the Hilux and it folded up like a coke can.  The 110 wouldn’t even have noticed the impact....
