Towing a trailer

Im currently towing an 8ft trailer but now looking to go next size up and start towing the 10ft ifor Williams, has anyone used both as I will be using it on a daily basis does it change your manoeuvring much? ie going round tight bends, reversing round tight areas to avoid ending up in a ditch or a pond etc. I know it’s not tree talk but most tree people or landscapers tend to use trailers

cheers

As long as you can see it in mirrors should not be a problem, I use a 8x5 ifor tipper and a 12x6 flat only thing I have to remember is the12x6 stick up wider then truck is. Have got both in the same tight driveway last week just had to watch tail swing on larger trailer. Both were on same truck land rover 130 so not the shortest of trucks.

Ok... ASSUMING, that in any given scenario there is sufficient room for the larger trailer, you will in fact find that reversing is easier as the trailer will respond more slowly to steering inputs, and so be less "twitchy" [you know what i mean] AND it will also be easier to see where it is, so you will have no problems at all..

[I have a class one HGV so have towed just a few trailers, just a few miles in my time..]

You will be fine..

What John said...

You'll barely notice the extra tailswing, you will notice the easier reversing. Main issue with bigger trailers is if they are wider- we amassed probably five tyre kills over a couple of years with the widest Ifor plant trailer, since switched to a GX1054 and good as gold.

Having a clumsy c**/t retire probably helped also.

As an ex HGV class one driver, do you know what REALLY and i mean REALLY winds me up?? When you are following someone in an artic and at roundabouts they drag the tyres all over the kerbs. They KNOW they are doing it, and they HAVE the ability not to, they are just wankers that think "not my tyres, i do not give a shit"

Do lots of you come across arb workers that treat your stuff in the same way, or are arb workers expected to supply their own stuff??

So bloody true, our g106 eats left hand wheels and tyres as they're always in the gutters of country lanes!🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

A gx105 is on the 'one day' shopping list as the actual trailer itself is brilliant

As for the original post, 10ft is a lovely size to tow and use👍
