How many hours do you work a year?

Odd to see the UK's hours plummet through WW2 while Germany's crept up.  Then Germany's fell away through their post WW2 economic recovery

We weren’t enslaving Jews. They’re probably counting that.

Average hours of total population/ average hours of working age people/average hours of people in work would be interesting.

What I find odd is that only two countries show any increase, and small ones at that, through the war years.  Knowledge of how these graphs were collated would be most revealing.  Japan's hours fell through the war - odd - but increased post war; that makes perfect sense

It's interesting to see but might be skewed if it's an average as I would think more people work part time now. Also depends if it includes lunch breaks etc.

I work about 2300 not including breaks but I do more if you include late night work livestock and I expect like most of us self employed people spend hours in evenings doing paperwork and orders.

Fascinating. Back in the day, more people were farmers. I believe I read in 1900, 90% of Americans were farming. Less in Europe, as we industrialized earlier. Farmers work dawn to dusk, but it's not all flat out graft like working a factory assembly line.

I’d have thought farmers work dawn til dusk. 🤣

Keep in mind in the winter that’s not many hours really.
