Hope you don't regret getting the husqvarna combi can!

I'd say definitely have first aid kit with you, whether you are in the woods or at home. Not necessarily a first aid "kit" off the shelf, but the advice is to carry some kind of trauma dressing (like an Israeli Bandage), maybe a CAT Tourniquet too.

Combi can?  It seemed a good item, can carry tools, chain, oil & fuel in one thing, rather than bag with bottles and tools.  (its not going to have a hard life lol)

We have a general "car type" kit, but had been looking at the clotting bandages and tourniquet also.

Have seen some professional guys with kits on belts, but cant find them, or they look to be very basic with a few small bandages and plasters.

I wasn't knocking the can, it'll be good, but you'll probably be buying a new fuel spout for it regularly. I had one (as many others have) and the seals in the spout don't seem to last long.

In my experience people get the kits that carry on a belt, then ditch the contents and put into it a trauma dressing, cat tourniquet, maybe clotting granules.

By all means have a normal first aid kit with you but consider how ineffective it would be if you have a significant injury.

Fair play to you mate. You've taken advice and got yourself a decent bit of kit there. Welcome to the world of chopping up bits of wood. Stay safe.

Thank you 🙂

I just didnt want to be the home owner buying some cheap saw and thinking that was all there was to it.  Ok so its not a pro level saw, but its certainly better than what I was going to buy.  I probably wouldnt have bought anything more than gloves and glasses had I not found this forum. (feel quite safe with all the gear on)

I have been pointed to various videos on youtube about different cutting styles/how to avoid kickback, how to file a chain/how to maintain a saw.  Its all been really useful, and has taught me quite a lot, and hopefully has opened my eyes to the dangers, some obvious, but some not.
