Hi again guys

Silly one again.  So its a no go on the trouser front, and I spotted this lot helmet with face and ear protection, husqvana pants and gloves.

Husqvarna Chainsaw Protective Kit - World of Power

It this acceptable for a newbie, protection wise?

PS got the aspen fuel today for the saw, no messing with measuring now😃

You don't want to saw with no trousers :D That kit looks good for the price, the gloves are a bit unnecessary but thrown in with the rest they are fine. I wear a bib and brace Husqvarna trouser but it's a bit hot in summer.

No.
Chaps are not legal on any site now.
Get a proper pair of cs trousers, boots and helmet.
About £70.
Forest cs wellies £70
Helmet £25-50

As a domestic user on your own private property, you could wear a tie and a smile and it’d be legal.
Kevlar jeans? Not sure what they are.
But if they aren’t saw rated I wouldn’t chance it.
Steel toe cap boots are good, except what happens is the chain slides off the toe cap and cuts into the boot.
Stay safe[emoji106]

The guy is a homeowner so can do as the wishes, besides are they chaps or trousers?  Called chaps, but look to be trousers!

It's a decent deal but you can hunt out better possibly.  I agree that boots are important, Yukon Welly type ones are what I use, they were pretty cheap.

Type A = front of leg, fine unless you're climbing

Class 1 = the level of protection as a measure of chain speed that should be stopped ( 20m/s I think), again fine for a small saw.  That type of trouser is about £60 up.

The foresters helmet, good.  Safety specs still worthwhile though too.

The gloves are class 0 which iirc is 16m/s.  You'll find class 1 from about £18 I think

Chainsaw wellies are useless. You won’t wear them cause they hurt so much. Oregon Yukon leather boots are very comfy, I use them as general work boots.

Chainsaw gloves are totally and utterly pointless. Don’t bother with them. You’re more likely to have an accident because you can’t grip anything. If the chain snaps (very unlikely) the chain catcher (clue is in the name) or the chainbrake handle will stop it from getting your hand.

Again, he's a homeowner and unlikely to walk far in them or wear them for long.  I have never had any discomfort from mine.

Gloves yeah I know. I understand some research into injuries in the American forestry industry led to the glove design and patch on the back of the left hand.  Possibly a case of stats being abused?  You'll want something on your hands when handling logs though I'm not sure any chainsaw gloves are very robust as they are usually soft goatskin.
