Ha ha ha, as if Ifor have company techs, or know what temperature their hubs run at!   ’Give Dewi a shout, there’s an English bloke on the phone after some info about brakes or something’.

There is no vodoo in trailer brakes, they are either properly adjusted with cables and a coupling that will correctly apply/release the brakes or there is a problem. One of the horsey lot in the yard

Bit new to be giving trouble, there's not an awful lot on them so I'd start at the hub and work forwards.  Is the hub full of crud, shoes properly seated and returning when brakes released? retur

It is an interesting problem.

 

Could it be trailer bed flex tightening up the brake rods / cables that are over adjusted.

 

I would fine a safe off road space & disable the brakes on the trailer & drive for enough time to get the heat.

 

No heat its the brakes, heat & its the bearings.

 

BUT only off road, private land with no one or thing around to hit.

I was thinking the same . Eliminate things one by one .

Have you checked you haven’t got a siezed brake cable to one (or more wheels) I had one (work supplied not owned) seize once, the return springs didn’t have enough strength to piull the gummed up cable back to allow the brake off.

I've just put new rear calipers on the van. Going to buy a pack of springs and see if I can get two or three in at a time to back the handbrake off more strongly.
