Secondary Hydraulic Supply

Hi All

Looking to fit a secondary hydraulic supply to my Trakmet mill. The existing 12v powered  system is fine for every day use but when dealing with oversize stuff I feel it’s probably low on power. The system is rated for far more according to Trakmet as it’s the same that’s on the 3 phase static models apart from the motor used to power it. Looking to weld an extra connection onto the existing steel tank to feed a petrol powered hydraulic pump that matches the manufactures flow and pressure specs on the 3 phase models ( Which ive tested and are far quicker and stronger)An extra filter will be fitted on the return side from the control block and looking at 3 way valves to switch over supplies from the 12v system to the petrol hyd pack as and when required. All this will be mounted within the chassis rails at front in amongst the existing hyd systems location. Any advice on likely issues or if I’m totally on the wrong tack would be appreciated.

We have 3 position valves on a lot of the kit offshore to facilitate back up hydraulics on some essential bits of kit being used. Not sure if shuttle is the correct term but we just refer to them as 3 ways 🤷‍♂️. Fundamentals of the plan are found I think, just hoping a hydraulic guru might have had some  input.

Twin axle chassis set up rated for 2000kg each 

Mill is running at 3t ish, Honda GX  motor and new pump plus odds and sods will add 70kg tops. If you’ve ever seen the Trakmet mills close up you’ll know they tend not to worry too much about weight when building them.

I wasn’t coming from an ‘is it strong enough’ point of view, more an ‘is it legal’ consideration.

No I didn’t think you were, just pointing out its built like a tank and little bit more weight shouldn’t  be an issue.
