Great bit of kit the Lucas mill. I was very close to getting one when i bought my bandmill, but at the time i was milling mostly waney edged wide hardwood boards. I am nowadays doing a lot of softwoods into construction timbers, so other than the slightly fatter kerf of the circ saw blade, it would be a perfect mill.

Out of interest, how do you get the whole thing level with the log? Surely where the log sits wont be level?
doesnt have to be level only parallel, once the mill is setup you can easily skid one end round by hand to make final adjustments if you have to.Just have to make sure that there is no twist in the rails though.stand back and sight it Usually have to put a piece of ply under 1 corner of the base frame to get that right

best to put the log on 8'' bearers so its easy to slide around too
