Determining if an air filter is effective is simple, tach a saw running with a brand new air filter to pre determined RPM, put on a soiled filter and register the RPM, replace with the aftermarket one and measure again. if the revs drop when the air filter is fitted, it is restrictive.

I actually tached a MS460 with and without its HD2 filter as the owner wanted to fit a Maxiflow and the result was that the cleaned used HD2 filter had very little restriction on the airflow compared to no air filter being fitted. You can tell from this that the HD2 air filter is working pretty well.

That’s fine on a clean filter in a controlled environment  - the issue with the HD2 is the speed it clogs up & the fines it can let through. Neither improve performance or saw condition

That sounds effective.
I have 3 of the Stihl felt bands that fit around HS2 and change them, rotating the 3, so can do 3 big cuts before I stop and airline the HS2 and the 3 bands ready for the next 3 cuts.
Not sure this is as good as anything anyone else does but the HS2 stays pretty clean.

Air lining is a bad idea, it will blow holes through your filter.

But it doesn’t let fines through.
It clogs up because it’s working.
How would a filter not block if it was working?

Jeez, these have fairly gone up in price since I used to repair bikes... I seem to remember them being  a fiver😄

Depends on the skill of the operator and size of aperture on gun nozzle - never ever had and issue - but like you milling timber - I know exactly what I am doing [emoji108]

Apparently it blows apart/pushes holes through, very tiny ones which let the fines through. I just tap the filter against a bit of wood, then gently scratch the filter to flick the fines out.[emoji106]
