silky cut today..first one in 16 years as a climber

severed tendon, and got to see specialist on Wednesday after they came to the conclusion that they don't know how to stitch or glue it as it is.

silly mistake...last few weeks I've had swelling in my inner elbow and when I bend my arm my hand and  arm goes numb , so after setting up lowering ropes etc went to cut a branch and my thumb went numb and had electric pain in my hand,  instead of holding the branch i branded with my forearm and slipped and cut my finger across the knuckle to the bone 😅

Good effort, Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Not going to be speedy recovery, cut the top of thump three years ago right though tendon was told eight weeks recovery time and it was.

With mass physio to keep it moving and get full use at the end which I have

thanks mate...all the years doing things meticulously and using the same movements and always getting to a safe and comfortable position first and only took a  bit of change and slightly distracted by my arm issues and I'm now having to wait to see how things go...

thats crazy, glad you made a full  recovery,  maybe they can work on my finger at the same time as the arm...only got referred to physio last week for it ...they did say that they were trying to line up the pieces but couldn't even work out where two parts fitted back in...heard so many ppl say about how unforgiving silky can be and a lot of them had been cut themselves...made up for the years without incident tho ..thanks

Thats a bit of a mess, dont try rushing it when you,ve had it repaired,it takes time,i mangled my little finger(and broke the bone) between trailer and tow bar a few years back and carried on working with it,tendon was cut and i didn,t get it repaired, now i,m left with pretty much a straight finger and its a right pain

sorry , that sounds like a random thing out of nowhere that you would never expect to have happen..

I'm worried now that after two opinions and being told that they can't see how to stitch it, the specialist might have the same opinion and say leave it heal as it is ...thanks tho..good to hear from someone that's had a similar issue

Now that does look nasty!

All I can say is do what the doctors tell you to do. I've had a few nasty chainsaw cuts but rest and exercise when told to means I have nothing more than a bit of numbness. I know it doesn't always work out like that but you can fook things up a bit if you get back to work sooner than youre supposed to, especially if you have nerve damage, that does require no movement to heal properly.

Ouch! I partially severed a tendon in my thumb a few years ago, lengthy recovery time of 3 months, still get the occasional unexplainable pain but made a good recovery. Don’t be tempted to get back at it early, yes you might win, but you might fukk things up royally!

Was told be physio with occupation hands are strong and not an advantage when tendons got to repair as even just gripping with it normally puts lot of strain on them.

Only thing is in cold weather it happens is feels like there a thistles pricking thumb but it's the stitches as they don't desolve.
