What size of wood would be described as "processor size"?

Most call 4" to 12" or 14" processor sized.

My smaller machine wants 8" to 14" for max output, the bigger machine 8" to 16".

Much bigger on either causes more need to resplit which slows you, any smaller & you loose production.

Personally under 6" costs you more money to buy & produce than its worth.

A 4" log has 1/4 of the wood of an 8" yet takes the same amount of time & money to process.

Ideally wood should be graded into tighter grades covering say 4" or 5".

But that will cost you more to buy in.

Thanks for the replies. Would you expect a price difference between processor size and oversize?

I normally pay £15-20 less for oversize to cover the extra labour but it can occasionally be worth extra if it's suitable for milling.
