Thanks Khriss; I'm aware of the potential world of bother if you play by the rules.  I'm slightly encouraged by the claim in the National Bat Helpline website that most roosts are for summer use and that the bats relocate to hibernate.

I still need someone to do the survey though; I though loads of tree guys had such a ticket!  Perhaps not...

Its what you find and what has to be done . I would get intouch with them first , might be more than meets the eye , but fingers crossed it isnt ! Pic below was house on development site we did at Hawkwell 2015, house in middle of pic 352 was hibernation roost , development company totally rebuilt house so Bat roost could not be accessed from inside   :/  line  of broadleaf trees to right could not be touched as it was forage route  K

I had one recently for barn conversion, used Arbtech who  did a great job. Think they are national to

What did they do that made you feel they had done a great job?

Just curious as a bat survey is a bat survey isn't it? Apart from saying there weren't actually any bats there afterall I can't think what a great one would entail.

Are they similar to ecological surveys for planning in that they tend to show what the person who commissions the survey wants?

Well that would be nice; I could write the report and have the surveyor simply put his name to it for £X!

I don't think a bat survey would be so woolly though; the report presumably would say either 'I did find evidence of bats present' or 'I didn't find evidence...'

Well out of 4 other companies i contacted they got back to with a day, while the only other company that got back to was 7 days later.

A dusk/dawn survey was also required. So yes and bat report is a bat report but just found them easy to deal with, and the fact they actually wanted my custom
