I’ve only just read the news about Simon and I’m gutted. He gave me my first day subbing out (which I’ll never forget as I turned up in my class Cs and it was LONG day hedge trimming on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year ~30 degrees and went on until about 1800 and was a good 50 minute drive home). He was an honest chap who always put his hand in his pocket when it was deserved. We manoeuvred that Unimog into some tight old spots, got it stuck a few times and did some huge jobs with just him in the tree and me on the ground, but I never regretted a moment of it. It’s been a fair old while since I saw him last, but thanks for giving me a chance those years ago, Simon - you will be missed!
