Im toying with the idea of doing small scale green waste removal for local people in the summer months.  Basically anything that will rot, burn or be usefull eg rubble & soil.  I get asked all the time plus allow gardening friends to dump their waste on my fire heap for beers.  I have a large site, diggers, trailers, FLT, 3.5 ton truck with hiab isnt used in the summer.   I was thinking drop them a dumpy bag, once full I can crane on and go.  Charge by the bag.     I wouldnt know where to start with pricing & legals etc.  alot of waste carriers round here.  Any help or experiences welcomed.

The council will shut you down faster than you can say 'transfer station'.

Burning green waste on any site other than the one it was produced is totally illegal also.

Complete non starter mate, sorry. Unless you have a semi industrial site and many tens of thousands to throw at planning.

appreciate your help.  Im glad i asked.  What if I chipped the majority and sold that on or used myself & stock piled the rest and let it compost?

You would still need environmental permits or exemptions and they are only valid if the site has the correct planning status. I went through due process and got permissions for 500 tonnes of arb waste several years ago and it was not straightforward (air quality reports were required because of aspergillus spores but that was a paper exercise for an environmental consultant)

OTOH I see plenty of garden maintenance/arborist yards that have been in use to dump (and burn) arisings with no action being taken and just a mile from me is a permanent caravan site with an adjacent paddock owned by Surrey CC that is used as a dump site and any excess ends up in the adjacent river.

A friend has been tipping all his arisings, chips, clippings and logs in a field on his farm for 25 years, the older stuff is completely degraded to a decent compost/leaf litter and doesn't even occupy an acre.

It's not me, honest.
