Those Abu reels are works of art, angle the brake blocks, release the clutch, use Rocket Fuel and one of the thinnest Varivas lines for extra distance...150gm weight!

Polish edges and ends of spool! and inside edge of cage!

I use TSF321 oil.

I run Penn Fathoms mostly have a 12 on blocks which tweaking them down to get on the edge as with two small ABU blocks a bit slow still my other Fathoms are magged 12-15's also have the old Shimano speedmasters 11CFS/11C(Original HiSpeed retrieve reels 6.1.

Others i have are the USA Penn 525's Super mag extra and Tournamag but has a slidey plate on atmo all the 525's are same apart from end plate! GS 525 are different reels.

Also have Fixed spools for my other rods on Braid Shimano Power Aeros and Aero Techniums.

Friends should have new boat had made finished soon it's a 22-24ft all alloy hull running twin 275 outboards will do flat out 70mph!

Its all right doing that speed but you can soon end up in trouble ? been going out to sea since the 70s and learnt a bit about on the way, only every hit 2 items out there, one was a submerged chest freezer that was just below the surface and i am glad it wasnt 30 seconds earlier at a much greater speed but we had just turned back on our selfs and running back up tide to drop anchor on a bank, the second one was a partly submerged rear tractor wheel that we just rode over and this was in the river where we launch, there is a lot of debris floating around out there,

I'm getting back into it after a break of probably 10 years.

Currently fishing Breydon water towards vauxhall Bridge with light tackle and lures for bass. Nice one last week (2lbs) and a return yesterday.

Went off a boat about a month ago around Lowestoft, targeting skate and bass. Ended up with a good amount of smooth hound in the freezer. One of my favourite eating fish, but disliked by many.

I'm a useless cast both off the beach and with a spinning rod.

Could do with some pointers on technique really.

This canoe fishing looks good fun, any more info on that greatly appreciated. Sea Palling is only twenty minutes from me.

Hi mate sorry been busy celebrating the Footie 🤕 I’ll get back to yer when I get a bit of time 👍🏼

I tend to get to sea palling at first light nobody about and drive up the slip and unload on beach I have left vehicle there before but tend to park in the car park. 13” sit on kayak and Tackle wise 6” spinning rod fixed spool loaded with 40lb braid large swivel to catch the weed down the line 5 foot30lb fluorocarbon  leader and a floating lure which dives to a depth of 5/6 foot as there’s lots of crab pots on other side of reef. I simply ( he says ) troll along the reefs preferably during slack water as when the tides running it whips along there big time and you have to give it the beans which is bloody hard work. Don’t use a net and it just snags on the trebles ( found out the hard way )  just a wet rag to hold and land the fish and lash everything 🙄. On average get around 9-12 takes in about an hour and a half. I’m usually back at the caravan by 7.30- 8 as you only need a couple of hrs as it’s quite tiring tbh. I’ve got a little rib and out board which I’m thinking of using or maybe hitch the out board onto the kayak 😏. It’s great fun but need to be aware and wear a life jacket 👍🏼

He knows all about the dangers out there! Nearly went down years back when got caught coming in in Solent east massive waves got up plus dealing with tide and cross wash where it comes back off land going into channel Hayling way when got swamped by some waves filled back of boat up luckily he had built it with a high step and closed door plus two fast bilge pumps got level down enough to get it moving so water went out through gunnels! Said was "Pretty close".

Mind was out fishing one day could be someone Hooning a speed boat with skier pretty (Too)close in off Selsey way there is a wreck! Knew tide was low looked at his mate and they both knew was close to the Tanks! Next thing Thwack Hooners lost engine ripped whole back of boat off!

Thanks for that, some good info. Sounds like a bit of fun, but I can imagine it being hairy at times.

Are you using a sit on?

What type of clothing, talking weather not fashion?

Cheers
