Contract firewood processor near Chepstow?

Hi all

As above, really. I've got a few ash trees (small to medium, and and a few big old trunk sections - but they can and probably will be left to rot) felled into manageable chunks, but I have tendonitis and don't really fancy logging and splitting them myself at the moment. Anyone in the Chepstow area with a small ish processor (access not wonderful) who'd have a look at it / see what they could get done in a day? I can probably move it all into one location if that helps, but said location is up a steep bank and through a 9' gate into a paddock, so this may actually make matters worse!

Thank you.

Pictures of wood / site & access would help people advise.

I know for sure my big machine would not get in there.

I would be worried about the small one too especially if you dont have a tractor to hand just in case.

So far on every trip bar two with the big processor its needed assistance to get in or out due to the site being steep & wet or deep & muddy. Some due to the light weight of the 2wd van towing it, but others would have needed help even with 4wd as it weighs in at 3500kg.

The smaller one has never needed assistance but on one site they take it into the woods behind a tractor rather than risking my vehicle. Most of the time we tow it with a family 2wd car. If I know its a bad site I would take the 4wd.

All the sites I had problems with the big one would have been fine with the small one.

What's your small processor? And what's it max capacity?

I do have a small tractor, but it can only lift 500kg or so. Access isn't really that bad, the logs can be gathered by the house, though it would be easier if they were in the paddock...

Wp30, 14", it can self load with its lift arms.

On good wood with a skilled helper about 25 IBC's per 8 hour day.

You would be to far away for it to be viable for one days work.

Two or three days would be better.

Thanks.

That's a lot of wood you can get through! I doubt I have one day's processing for you in that case. Will gather it all up and see.

The big one will munch its way through 30 to 40 IBC's.

You will have someone much closer to you I am sure.

Surprised no one else has replied.
