It's the best way to seal volatile things like burrs like this one I sealed 10 years ago. Probably good to go now. Wouldn't bother on a big log though. Rarely seal them at all. Also pic of some black wood and olive i aquired.

Black wood totally sealed, olive end sealed in wax. Not by me though

 

Well for some reason photos not working today.

Mill the elm and get under cover!! It’s starting to look a bit spongy ... Maybe leave the ash and oak for a bit though.
