Which saws you using?

Recommended Posts

What saws are everyone using? I'm looking to buy my first few saws to start up on my own and have always had stihl. I'm thinking initially MS201, and MS461 before getting a 661 in the future. Anyone have any preferences on some of the husky saws? I've been climbing for years but somehow never used husky anywhere.

Any advice appreciated!

If I could only have 2 saws it would be 2511 and a 500i

Would cover most things I reckon.

It all depends what you're doing, so are you setting up as a contract climber or domestic arb firm yourself?

I bought a 201 as my first topper, I probably wouldn't do that again as I only use it for bigger dismantles now. 150 or the battery toppers get a lot more use. After that 261, then 461.

think priority 1 is budget

then what dealer you have locally for repair

what size stuff are you gonna tackle

540 and 201 pretty much the same

the little echo isnt bad for the size of it

No budget is not the priority imo.

There’s not that much difference in cost for the pro saws.

There was a thread on here that I can’t find. ONLY 3 SAWS or the like.

 Stihl 201

husky 550

husky 576.
