Any spaces available on a 3 day First Aid at Work course ideally with +F. In the past I have arranged my own course and booked a trainer but all the people I trained with last time have moved away or changed jobs. Based in Oxfordshire but willing to travel.

Cheers, Nick

Can i ask why a 3 day course ? we have only ever done a 1 day course with +F and thats for one of the UKs major forestry companies, if you have done the course/ticket before you will only need 1 day, dont let people tell you that you need a 3 day course as there is some people out there that will just take your money off you, we do ours with a small company called Lakes first aide and obviously based in the lake district which is  under an hour traveling for us, 2-3 of us go and its £70 for the day and certificate,

The 3-day First Aid at Work course is not obligatory. The requirement is to do a FA 'needs assessment' and train etc. accordingly.

Hence, for the majority of operational staff the 1-day 'industry specific' (+F) course is suitable. Many FA providers offer this ow often labelled as EFAW for Tree Surgeons or similar, and usually include the '+F' suffix on the certificate.

Danny Ball runs a 1 day course from Coventry which should be fairly close. MediArb on Instagram. Ex army medic and tree worker. Sound bloke.

He also sells decent Trauma kits in a tuff box which I bought too.

However, within an FA assessment if you are working in remoter sites (which could  cover many things not roadside) then you could easily need to keep a casualty alive for a longer period before help arrives. Hence the need for FAW+F if you’re using saws, tree felling etc in such a scenario.

I am an NPTC chainsaw assessor and I am required to hold FAW in order to carry out assessments. Ironically, it doesn't specify that it must be + F but that makes it more industry specific - crush injuries, major bleeding, Lyme's disease.
