Here at Beddow Tree Specialists we have a full trainee position available for someone who is very keen to become a tree surgeon.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic people with an interest in tree surgery to join us on an internal apprenticeship and someone looking for a long-term career with Beddow Tree.

This is a start at the bottom role with full training supplied through an apprenticeship for the right candidate to take you all the way through your career, as high as you can go! You will be expected to attend training courses with an approved training provider, in addition to in house and ‘on the job training’ at Beddow Tree client sites.

You need to have a Driving License and a passion for becoming a tree surgeon. Prepared to work hard and have diligent work practice. A head for heights is also required!

For the right candidate Beddow Tree will pay for training and the internal apprenticeship is expected to be undertaken over phased periods. The phases of your internal apprenticeship will commence after your probation period (<6mths) and will be structured as follows:

What you will cover

Phase 1 Salary £18,720 / year

Estimated period 2yrs

NPTC 201/202 (CS30) Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting

NPTC 203 (CS31) Level 2 award in felling and processing trees up to 380mm

NPTC 206, 306 (CS38) Level 2 Award Tree climbing and aerial rescue

City and Guilds NPTC Level 2 award in safe use of brushwood chipper/ Manually Fed Wood Chipper

Level 2 award in emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry

Phase 2

Salary £22,500-£26,750

Est 1.5 year

Trailer Driving License for trailers <3.5t (Data Academy).

Level 2 award in safe use of mobile elevated work platform (mewp) (1B Static Boom).

NPTC 308 (CS39) Level 3 Award in Aerial cutting of trees with a chainsaw using free fall techniques.

City and Guilds NPTC Level 2 award in the safe use of Stump Grinders.

City and Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award for Safe Use of Pesticides PA1 & PA6PP.

Phase 3

Salary £26,750-£31,000

Est 1.5 year

Rough Terrain Telehandler / Articulated mini-loader

NPTC 309 Level 3 Award in Aerial Tree Rigging

NPTC 307 level 3 Award in Aerial tree pruning

Phase 4

Salary £31,000-£40,000

Est 4 year

Level 2 Qualification of Arboriculture

Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture

Level 6 Qualification in Arboriculture

Essential Requirements:

All candidates are required to meet the essential requirements set out below. Please address in your CV and Covering Letter how you meet the following:

· Drivers License

· Age 21 years +

· A genuine interest in arboriculture

· Ability to work at heights & handle outdoors ‘all weathers’

· Experience working as part of a team as well as demonstrating use of own initiative

· Can follow both written and verbal instructions

· A committed approach to health and safety

· Good attention to detail and is self-motivated, enthusiastic and keen to learn new things.
