How to manage a bad back?

If you’ve had an MRI scan and diagnosed with bulging disc presume it was on the NHS ? Why was it not followed up by them? Get back to your doctor and get back in the queue and persevere with them as they are probably best placed to eventually sort it(unless you’ve got private health insurance. Because this is likely to take months if not years as others have suggested at the same time you could also find a good(recommended!) Osteopath or Chiropractor (but don’t tell the NHS🤔) and see if they can put their finger on the problem - literally 😳. I had a problem with a lower back pain before Christmas and was recommended an Osteopath. After 40 mins with her going through my aches and pain history she literally put her fingers onto the exact point of the pain. After about 20 mins of her pulling my knees up, bending me in all directions etc😳 she said that was all? Didn’t book a follow up cos said none were needed🤔 went away and within a couple of days it had disappeared. Be careful of those who book a load of appointments as you’ll become part of their gravy train🤔. Generally if you can get an appointment straight away be suspicious? If you have to wait a month to be seen that’s probably recommendation enough🤔unless they’re on holiday in the Caribbean🙄?

Strange. Had an mri today as I've been really bad this last couple of months. Then I come here and see this.

To be honest it's made me feel so much better. On the drive in to the hospital this morning I saw a couple of tree crews and a plethora of groundworkers/landscapers and I honestly felt like the only one not able to get up and do a days work.

The actual pain is bad. The feeling of being useless is worse.

Same as many here have mentioned, my main issues are in the lower back, sciatic nerve and sacroiliac joint.

Lack of core muscles and a history of lifting things stupidly doesnt help either.

I've found, up to now, physio and plenty of stretching helped.

Knowing I'm not alone has a comfort of it's own too. Thanks for posting guys.

Seems like loads of people have had these problems eh?

I have the odd twinge now and again, but 20+ years ago I was regularly taking whole weeks off work for back related symptoms. My saviour was spending some money on a really good mattress for my bed.

Really did the trick for me!

I suffered with lower back pain for years until i found out I have fallen arches in my feet .

the right insoles sorted it straight away.

also suffer regularly with trapped nerves in shoulders and hips, have had physio for this. The right stretches, swimming and climbing regularly works for me.

long shifts on tractor or sitting down seem to bring on the aches and pains

EVERYBODIES mri will show bulging discs, dehydrated discos, facet joint arthritis and degenerate changes if you are over 40 whether you have a bad back or not. The main reason to get an mri is to find something that can be surgically corrected like disc protrusion compressing a nerve route or spinal canal narrowing

That's a very good point thus far overlooked.

I spent well into four figures over about five years seeking a mattress that worked 😟

In the end I need have only spent £299 cos Emma's the babe for me.
