Im gonna buy Spruce at £35 a ton delivered and keep passing it through the mill till its all sawdust. :D

I’ve got sawdust coming out my ears but my wife still irritatingly insists on buying big bags of shavings for the hens



I’ve found my chickens really don’t care about having sawdust as bedding. They only lay their eggs in it after all. They sleep on perches so a layer of sawdust underneath catches all the droppings.

The ducks do prefer straw though.

Using circular blade I take much larger chips...
I have a lot of equine friends that had said it was too wet to use as bedding... though they also said that it wasn’t white enough for there precious horses

Will get in contact with some farmers see if they’ll pay me!

Ideally for cattle bedding you want sawdust dried and some people like it dust extracted so stuff from a chainsaw is usually better.

 

We use sawdust ourselves or sell it and the going rate seems to be £15 a tote bag

I have filled 2 x 1 ton sack bags from todays milling. Will have to stick it gumtree
