They are indeed an Amish product. After starting with a Willans full body harness I had a couple of Weavers......nowadays i am very happy to have paid for what is certainly an impressively crafted harness too The Evo TM.Teufelberger like ART products are reassuringly expensive as they say.

Unfortunately you can’t get a weaver in England any more. I started out with weavers, now in tm. They are a cracking harness with good back support. I seem to remember they are hand stitched by the Amish.

Weavers, triple strand, steel fixed eye Krabs, Swedish strops, all of my favourite gear unavailable or no longer made.

Is the universe trying to tell me something?

Triple strand was the work of the devil!!  My first multi-plat was a gift from heaven!!

I can't remember anyone actually buying 3 strand? It just sort of appeared,no one gave a toss about ratings or service life.  I guess you replaced it when it had to many splices in it and you got sick of your prusik jambing every 15 feet.

First season in Germany I bought that New England orange rope with the yellow line down it and a Blake's hitch. Combining that with my home made steelcore flipping I felt like I was ready for the millennium.

Pow!

3 strand was a bit rudimentary.

The first rope I bought was three strand that had been over twisted or something so it was stiff like wire.

Got in cheap from A&F in Surrey, loved that rope.

I agree though multiplat was lovely, organic in the hand (pardon the expression)

My first climbing gear was all second hand. I sold my pushbike and used the £200 I got to buy kit of a mate. There was a awful old Toll harness, Kline linesman’s gaffs and very stiff 3 strand, you could sort of push it up the tree above you, until enough got passed the branch that it bent back slowly towards you. Throwing it was pretty pointless.
