€42000 for thé petrol, diesel unavailable out here it seems.

I had a message from a member (who has run a lot of chippers) through another platform who has used both, he says that the diesel is the superior machine.

Dont forget the resale value will be more, so although the diesel is more in the first place, you get it back when you sell it

It is, but not yet. We had such a run of success with the old Tier 3a engine in 200 and 165, we sold out some 6 months ahead.

Have started showing a bit of ankle to the salesman for one of these.
They have only got the 57hp petrol engine on offer here in France
Thats a fair bit of extra poke compared to the 45hp v1505 turbo diesel they had beforehand.
 
Anyone here got one of these and has real life experience using it, what’s it like? As good as the diesel or not (or better)

I’ve ended up with the Timberwolf 8 inch petrol. My old 230 was starting to cost me money and after a week of arsing around with it and numerous electrical issues, it dying in the middle of a job I rang the local dealer and they couldn’t supply a 6 inch machine for 3 months. They had this machine in the yard so I went and swapped. Initially I wasn’t that impressed by it and thought it be a thirsty beast but having lived with it for the passed few months I’ve really grown to like it, maybe love it.
If your running it flat out all day chipping at capacity you will notice the fuel consumption but in an average week, I’ve not noticed it to be honest. I was running white diesel in the old chipper so the costs are pretty much comparable.
In short, it’s a great machine, thirsty but great.

I wasn’t impressed because it just seemed like the chipper that I’d just traded in but as soon as we got to some more chunky stuff it all made sense.
