Cheers Mike! I’m starting to see parts can be an issue. If it lasts long enough for this big oak it will have earned its keep.

Crazy to think that an oil pump is not available for it.

There certainly will be an oil pump available somewhere.  Just not through the usual channels. The sprocket that drives the pump is plastic,it becomes brittle with age and breaks at the pump. Or the pump seizes and shears the sprocket off.

I have a 084 & 064.  Both spare.  I asked rob at chiansawbars which he suggests is best for milling with a 42" bar.  Rob says use the 064 on lopro as just as fast as the 084 on a 404 chain.  Im no expert so going to give it a go, bar arrived the other day.

I find that surprising, but like you Im no expert. I ran a 064 with a 36" Low-pro bar and it was 'ok' I certainly never considered it anywhere as 'quick' (relative term) as the 088 I had (same cc as the 084)

I might be going the 64" Low-Pro route on the 084, we'll see.

will have look [emoji106],put dogs back on to keep chain catcher ...call me old fashioned but 12 foot of chain spinning in front of chest when beginning cut unerves me a little[emoji51] ps my bars are bolted for quick chain changes not clamped...ps hows the 881 against an 880

When a big chain de rails it comes off the rim sprocket almost instantly.
I’ve had this happen about 15 times last week.
Thought the chain tensioner was going bad.
Then the rim sprocket exploded.
Found the problem.

New rim sprocket and new chain it’s all fine.

I don’t pick up the 880 anymore🤣🤣🤣
The 881 is surprisingly fuel efficient with the same power as the 880.
That’s quite important when you burn 5-10 litres of alkylate a day.
