We'd only just got basic mobile phones back in the early 90's. YouTube definitely hadn't even been considered then. Scary how much has changed in such a short space of time.

@skc101fc  just reminded me of a job in Chelmsford on the  lake in that park of a collapsed Willow, the council wanted removing. Offered us a nice ally Dory to row out to the island with, to retreive the brash. Ran a pull rope out to it an used transit to tow it to shore for chipping. Hilareous job until we saw how much goose shit lathered that island 😫  K

You can get away with a transit and chipper if most of your work is small reductions or knocking the tops off conny hedges. They are not cost effective on tree removals or clearance work, the down time/ cost of a transit on turnaround no matter how close to a job racks up. There are a lot of guys out there running very expensive chippers capable of filling a transit to the brim in ten minutes, they then feck off from the job for an hour to empty it leaving their muckers behind scratching their nuts. I cant think of anything that drains the profit off a job quicker than inadequate clear up logistics.

Been saying this for years, never understand why people don't get trucks when there so cheap, trees are heavy like
