I don't think they're that great. When i put the HD clutch cover on my 572 i lost the captive nuts option but M8 flange nuts have worked fine for a long time.

Yes they are but they do get lost, a 13mm m8 is a standard anywhere though.

 

And easy enough to carry spares in the toolkit.
