i got one again for the noise level and tbh i thought it would be in the same catagory as a MS260.

Its not. Not even close

If noise isnt a issue then i wouldnt bother.

Thats the only major bonus. Its much more like a rear handle 201. Dont get me wrong its decent but more as a handy easy tool for snedding up large bits on the ground.

For log cutting it struggles on much more than smaller stuff ( is about 5 inches) plus u go through the bat pretty quick.

I took a gamble as i like to try new kit but wouldnt do it again. I wont get rid as its decent little saw but i wouldnt be looking at it as permeant kit if you do lots of logging.

Just my 2p

You have got to get the 300s batteries but at £200 a pop then it can all add up. I use it for hedges and stuff below 100mm and it works fine. If you buy the 500 rapid charger then it will charge the 300s in less than an hour. You can also run it with the backpack and it will last all day.

ive got 2 300 batteries and the fast charger ( worked out much better value as a package even though i already had a charger and older style batteries).

Never tried a backpack though.

Its not a bad saw, jsut not what i would call a mid sized saw.

Sounds to me as though the problem lies with your research and expectations, not with the saw.

I've a 200, love it. I'll probably get a 220 in a year or so, unless they end up bringing something bigger out.

id agree with that, pretty much what we think of it at work,

great by the chipper for the odd bit that wont go through as you dont need to have it ticking over the whole time.

also good for dodgy ladder hedge scenarios or in a tangled mess of a hedge where you want a low kickback saw.

i wouldnt class it as a logging up saw unless your upgrading from a bowsaw!

I thought on the backpack it limited the max power to about half?

If you have the 500 charger even running the saw hard 3 bats would keep you cutting solidly all day with no rests.  I use 2 bats & when cutting big stuff (I have the bigger bar) by the time I have used both I am ready for a rest so they catch me up ready to start with 2 again.

Pushing them less hard on smaller stuff & 2 bats will keep up.

The first (and last) part of the charge cycle is a cool down air flow session. If you have not run them hard or have let them cool naturally they will charge in less than 20 mins each (300s).

I find using it less effort & less vibration. Plus my elbow loves not having to pull start it.

You do have to learn to let the chain speed do the cutting & not bog it down.

40mins from a dead charge, and the 300S gives ya up to five mins extra run time according to specs over the earlier 300, so not much in it really, i’ve put mine on a 12” bar now, so with less length and chain drag i rekon i might be gaining a few extra mins there. Love mine, does what i realistically ask of it with no issues, just let it do the cutting, keep the chain sharp, shes a beaut! I’ve cut 12”+ logs with it and its fine, but obviously you’ll run the batteries down faster, common sense prevails as they say, anything bigger and then its petrol time.
