Have you contacted your local companies?  I sorted out my supply from a local tree surgeon a few years ago by doing this.  He now just contacts me when he has wood he wants to get rid of. He also sells firewood but I don't care what the wood is while I think firewood customers do.  I get a good supply for a donation of a few bottles of wine a year although I did initially off cash.

I haven't used the tip site on here as I had my supply sorted before I joined.

I can see prices of fire logs heading a lot higher with Brexit now. It was cheaper to buy in container loads from Baltic states because of their cheap labour and cheap shipping rates. Now the shipping rates are so unpredictable and 6 times higher then the profit margin has collapsed. Tree surgeons who couldn't compete and were chipping all the 8" stuff will have second thoughts. They will soon realise that it makes sense to cut to metre lengths and take them home. Sunday job will no longer be lying on the couch watching the football and drinking beer. It will now be a healthy few hours standing at a log harvester and stacking them in a barn to dry out naturally. They might even make more money from selling logs than felling trees. Means, when other side of see-saw goes up the tree felling side will head lower to balance it. With energy prices heading up I'm expecting there will never be a greater time in life to become a tree surgeon in the UK. fwiw

I’ll disagree, with the current health and safety guidelines for tree surgery to be compliant with insurance or to get commercial contracts along with the economic climate...it could not be a worse time.
If any one had sense they would get out now or if your in it for the long game invest heavily in mewps ,grapple trucks etc...
