Anyone no the correct torque for blade bolts on a rock machinery- Titan beaver type chipper and also thread lock,use or not use ?  Thanks 


I just replaced the blades on my Hyundai. Used a torque setting of 30.
Blades don’t last long so need to be easy to get on and off.

Did you use any thread lock? I always have used it but been reading that it’s not needed

Thread lock?!  Never heard that one.  I use a dab of copper grease on my Jo Beau's blade bolts, then just make sure they're tight enough not to work undone.  I find a rattle gun helps a lot; it saves knuckles and retaining bolt head corners for removal, stop the gun just as the rattle comes on for tightening.

Thread lock is what two manufacturers have told me to use, my small chipper is a 20hp beast which is now running on a Titan beaver blade drum,Titan have told me thread lock is a must,rock machinery also state the same

What is really really important is that the bolts don't come out, wreck blades and anvil.

I use a torque wrench every time, to JoBeau spec is 60Nm. I think Greenmech is a bit lower but 30Nm sounds a bit too low to me to be honest.

If the manufacturer says threadlock then I would, they will probably have corresponding lower torque to keep the bolts secure.

We say copper slip as an anti corrosion/stick stuff on our CS100 blade bolts. In this instance, the bolt is counted as a stud rather than a bolt so you are okay using it. We found that a heavier torque load achieved little but was a PITA occasionally, trying to get the torx drives out, especially when they weren't  scrupulously clean or had stuck I  with corrosion! But always check the manual or consult the supplier with any kit if you ain't sure!!!
