Chain comparison test video - not seen better...

One of the best chain comparison vids I've seen - huge amount of effort must have gone into this.

Fairly long so if you don't have time Oregon and Stihl win over all others [apart from the carbide in the grit test].

Would have been even better [if longer] doing the variations of the Oregon and Stihl ie, Stihl chisel/micro chisel and Oregon chisel/micro chisel but still a great video IMO.

Very comprehensive and well thought out test . Hats off to him for not getting bored ...

Weren’t we all hoping he would find the random nail half way through a cut in one of those trunks .......

I thought the husky chain was made for them by Oregon anyway.

I've always wanted to do a test like this, we use 50 chains a year but I'm never organised enough, it's nice to see someone with the patience to do it properly.

I wonder if one of those budget chains comes out of the same factory as those crappy rotatech chains , they have been quiet on social media for a long time after the battering they took a couple of years ago .....

Pretty sure Rotatech only make their own chains. I think they're the only UK manufacturer of chains.

For what it's worth the complaints I saw were more about their deliveries, or lack of, for a while. I've always liked their chains and only use them now and I see them on Facebook all the time. Also a lot more shops selling them but it's obviously cheaper to buy direct.

Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to quote Rough Hewn and I can't delete it.

Woeful company.

Lost chipper blades , sent someone else’s blades out, never use them for that again.

I bought a few chains and most of them were sent out too short. They had sat in the van for a while so typically they weren’t interested

Never used them again.

It was interesting to see the brand new out the box up close views of the different cutters, most didn't look that sharp compared to a tooth sharpened with a diamond burr in a dremel.

It would be more interesting to see the same test if the guy had sharpened all the chains the same way and set the depth gauges on each chain to be all the same... and kind of showed why you should sharpen a new chain,  as has been mentioned on here before.
