Lucky enough to be assisting with the inspection of the trees in Northwood cemetery today and there are over 20 to be felled. Learning a lot about the reasons trees must be removed and the vicar told me an amazing story,  In 1941 four explosive bombs were dropped over Cowes and two exploded in the cemetery. The bombs were so powerful that the debris from the explosion was fired through the surrounding trees. It remains there today, I’ve added the footnotes and the tree with the fence post is behind me but covered in ivy at the moment ?

Marvelous, yr first tree inspection  ?  have you done yr ten common species yet?     K

Hello k ?

I am a little all over the place still with the tree identification and I am getting a lot wrong but I learnt so much today about diseases and pests it’s great learning something new. It is sad that 20 of these beautiful trees will be lost but I know it’s for the best ?? The vicar was so clever and this place had so much rich history behind it !!!
