Little bit late answer but I have found my self three options how to measure tipper payload. First is just add pressure gauge to tilt cylinder and convert pressure to weight. Second option is tool made by Reich. It's caravan weight control devise which is small plate that you drive over and it tells total weight and weight distribution. Seems working ok but I don't see it worth of 300€. Last that I have found is pretty interesting device called better weight, that plugs in cars obd port and it measures acceleration of vehicle and calculates the weight from that. Idea is nice but doesn't seems to be very reliable. And to me the deal breaker for this was that it's not working with manual transmission (made in USA)

Hi we put lifting weight pads between the hinges and body and pin on the ram. You only then have to put the empty weight of the trailer into the small reader and log into the system / reader. Then when you load lift the ram slightly thats the weight.

+/- 5kg German company makes them. I did because we were being pulled once a month.

Doesn't that put it above the C1 licence though? Also means I'll have to do C1+E and I wouldn't be able to get any groundie to drive it where I could with a 3.5T+750kg chipper

A 750kg trailer / chipper would still be cat C1.

You would only need C1E for bigger trailers.

Unlike BE you dont get the option to share the 7500kg between trailer & vehicle.
