Beech Tree

Go French.
Pollard at 4-5m.
Or that other French thing of heavy pollarding then trim regrowth into a small cloud or similar shape.
(They do a lot of cubes in France, can’t stand the sight).
Keep the tree, massive reduction in foliage and roots etc.
Also it’ll keep your local tree surgeon busy for a day or two every year.

Thank you for your replies.

We have employed a tree surgeon to give his opinion and he is coming next week.

I hope we can save this tree.

If I ultimately, lose the vote and the tree is cut down to say a 6 ft stump or so - presumably it will regenerate and root action will continue under and possible damage the tarmac drive? - or maybe not to the same level of a full tree.
