Sadly, from a law point-of-view they won’t be idiots. They are definitely very clued up con-men well versed in what they will easily get away with.
Your neighbours have been ripped off by members of a massive criminal enterprise that exists in plain sight in our society, and is apparently pretty much immune from the law. They don’t have traceable trading addresses, property, or even names - it isn’t possible for the systems of society that we law-abiding ‘normal’ people are subject to to locate and prosecute them as they know and exploit the systems inside out.
Once you employ them you are on their terms - you will definitely end up poorer though!

I agree with this entirely. I guess the real question is do I roll over and forget about this or, do I put a little bit of time and effort into asking the question.

But you’re right. These people are allowed to operate with complete impunity within society. The futility of the situation is not lost on me. However, it doesn’t hurt to push back every now and then (no innuendo intended).

I agree entirely. Make as many enquiries and as much noise as you can, and don’t be brushed off by the powers that be if you manage to uncover any leads.

Every victim of theirs needs to do this wherever possible to raise awareness and make life harder for them as far as I’m concerned.
Don’t expect any sort of acceptable outcome though, as you will almost definitely be disappointed. Just hope that unending pain and misfortune comes to these snivelling thieving unwashed inbreeding scum at some unexpected moment.

I believe you mean "rogue" rather than a bloke with a suntan!!!

No Spud, I think if you you check previous threads on the subject, Matt Allwright is involved with Rouge Traders?

Seriously though, every time they’ve investigated this subject it’s been the same family, working from around London hasn’t it?

2 days after the episode where the filmed them in the house looking for money while the old girl was upstairs we saw the same arseholes/trick &chipper on Dereham Rd in Norwich.
So they get about

It is strange the company card has no contact details on it - that smacks of pikey involvement.

As a matter of interest, where did the name "Chris Price" and the address come from and where was the work done as the OP mentions being in South Wales?

It is possible the guys just picked a random name and address!

How did the folks next door engage with these fellas....a knock at the door, cold calling, paper, internet??

My neighbour said his name might be Chris, and another called Matt? He was given the card from another neighbour.

Ive actually spoken to the guy on the phone. He gave me his name as Chris Price at the given location. Initially, when I discovered the damage, my neighbour called him and threatened him with police action. I then immediately  received a call from them saying they would sort it, as they didn’t want to damage their reputations.

The work was done in Chepstow, South Wales. My neighbour did no scouting around, did not get an official quote, no proof of insurance, paid in cash and did not get receipt. (PIKEY! I hear you scream).

I potentially have a case based on negligence against my neighbour but I’ll have wait out on that one. I like my neighbours and do not wish to add to their woes.
