Is there a way to gauge belt Tension is correct without a proper gauge. I have one but it's crap so ordered another but until that arrives I want to tension the belts as near to correct as possible. The chipper isn't chipping big wood very well so I'm guessing the belts are not the right tension.

Cheers

I would ordinarily do a simple deflection test. On the long side, can you push one belt inwards with one finger to reveal the inside wall of the adjacent belt without busting a finger? That should be good enough...A belt tensionmeter is reliant on the belt cross section, belt length and distance between the fulcrums is it not? All a bit of a palaver to be honest when a simple push test would suffice. What does it say in the Owners Manual?
