Woodworm - Have I bought a worm sanctuary?

Hi all,

I could do with some woodworm advice. Got a great deal on a reclaimed oak wooden floor, but now I've got it home, noticed lots of the boards have tiny black marks. Are they woodworm? They don't look like the holes I'm used to for woodworm (they are very small and don't seem to go anywhere). I've sanded one of the pieces to see how deep the damage goes, but can't find holes going through the wood.

Was the previous owner bad at Darts?

If they are worm holes they may not be active, look for fine sawdust exiting the holes as the little bu88ers eat!!!

Don't look like worm holes to me. Just ware, staining. Possibly reaction to ferrous metal. Ie someone using a grinder nearby and spraying it

My thoughts too 

be interesting to know what function of building the flooring came from was.

Thanks for your advice! That follows what I was thinking - can't find any pictures of worm damage that looks like it online.

It was the hall floor out of a big posh house in Glasgow apparently.
