Spend big on the boots, not the trousers. Quality footware is quality of life, and you save money in the long run as the "cheap" boots don't last (looking at you, Treehog).

You're liable to rip the trousers with a tooth of a switched-off saw at some stage, and if the stuffing comes out then they're basically done. If it's just the outer fabric torn you can patch them with iron-on patch, one patch inside with the glue side facing out and another outside, with glue side in, so the glue faces meet and bond. It's not easy and not a great fix, as the outer patch will not adhere well once the fabric is saturated with oil, and it will be, after a few weeks, even if you wash the trousers it doesn't really cone out. Thus, the outer patch peels at the edges, but will hold.
