Kubota compact towing weights and feedback

Hello,

First time poster here. Looking into getting a compact tractor for our woods and to help tow large loads up a muddy hill for an upcoming building project we have. I'm looking at compact Kubotas as we seem to have several dealers round my way. I'm looking at something like the MK5000 or L2421 if anyone has experience of either of these any feedback would be appreciated.

I'm struggling to find on manufacturer specs what the towing capacity would be for this type of tractor. Both just under 50hp. Baring in mind that it would be towing materials up fairly steep hills in muddy winter.

We have a contractor for serious heavy duty work with a Valmet so Kubota for more general work around the place.

Will be my first tractor so fairly limited knowledge as so far been able to get by with a Land Cruiser and J D Gator but now needing something a bit more heavy duty.

Thanks,

Sam

If your towing up steep hills in winter then i wouldnt worry about your max towing weight as you’ll never be able to achieve it anyhow, you’ll only be loading to your conditions.
The towing weight may differ on them depending on the type of hitch the tractor is wearing. If you have a few dealers around you then just give them a call, they’ll be able to give you info on a few different scenarios no doubt.

Depends what you mean by heavy and what you mean by steep!

my 85hp tractor on very good tyres used to manage up to 6 ton or so up a steepish field. But all depends on what kind ground you’re on and whether there Is stone to bite down to below the topsoil.

I imagine a Kubota under 50hp (regardless of what the paper specs say) might be limited to only a ton or two behind it up a steep muddy hill.

Thanks everyone for the info, like you all said is hard to describe the steepness without pictures and the track does have stone underneath. Gets too muddy for vans and too narrow for trucks. We have a standard dumper and the Land Cruiser has been able to tow a mini digger And various other loads up without any trouble so may just stick with them. Have to be honest I’m trying to justify a tractor purchase but may just keep slogging away until I can afford something with a bit more power.

Hi from what you are explaining i would forget the tractor and go with a tracked dumper far better on wet greasy steep ground, we hire a tracked tractor in now and then and all i can say is tracks compared to wheels is the differance between going and not going we have done jobs extracting timber on very wet peat moreland and tracks win every time,

Thanks, will have a look into them. On a budget and the other guys are talking about buying a telehandler. I’m thinking something that would have a lot more varied uses.

A telehandler will carry a fair load up a hill on the forks - the weight over the front aids traction.

A small tractor won’t have the weight to get enough grip - it’ll spin up before running out of puff dragging a trailer imo.
Forks or a transport box on the 3pl and reversing up the hill would work, but may not be practical for your needs.
