Level 2 in tree felling

Hello,

I work on a private estate, as a gardener, I'm looking to broaden my horizons a little and add the felling course up too 380 mm to my qualifications (I already have the crosscuttting). I'm doing the course via Nptc does the course expire? I am unlikely to fell at my current job, just looking to the future abit. I'm abit worried I will do the course then not get to use the skills for a while.

Any advice on whether the course is worth it would be very helpful. Thanks

nptc is a life long qualification but they do recommend a refresher course every 3 to 5 years as good practice and depending on how regularly you are using the skills you have learnt from said course.
Defiantly worth doing I’m my opinion as it’s teaches you the basics in safe cutting[emoji1303]

Hi Ricky.

The course is worth it if you are going to be doing any sort of Felling. You will be taught felling stems under 100mm which will help you gardening. The course is recommended that you refresh every few years, however, you would be better upskilling and doing the next course up which refreshes the one below. Obviously the skills are perishable if you don't use them often and the refresher course isn't a full assessment.

Where are you based?

Thanks for the reply Tommy. I'm in Hillingdon, I've been offered a discounted course by a college to get people in after covid. So I thought it might be worth a punt. As I understand it the qualification itself doesn't expire, so even if not refreshed it will be good on the CV?Thanks again

Just as others said a very worthwhile course and make sure u do the nptc version as some other similar qualifications do expire.

Also nptc is recognised everywhere, some off the others aren't.

A future refresher course or upskill would be worth while in future but even in ARB industry not compulsory really only commercial forestry where they insist on 5 year refreshers.
