Building a Cabin

So I have a 12m x 3m Concrete Slab out the back of the property.  It was originally a pig pen back in the 60's/70's but (I guess) importantly is down on the drawings so getting planning permission, should I need it might be easier?

Up til a week ago I was planning on using it for drying slabs of wood but my Wifes suggested that we make it onto a Cabin of sorts for my 17 year old Daughter. I quite like that idea and when she moves out to go to Uni it would be perfect for guests staying.

Does anyone know if planning Permission would be needed for something like this? I dont think I'd be bring power and water up to it but if bringing water up to it was no issue I would. Electricity would most likely just be solar Power and batteries. Basically a small living area with a small kitchen and a bedroom. A toilet and shower would be on the cards if planning permission was not an issue.

Id rather not apply for planning permission and if I dont have to but my neighbor will stick his nose in and intentionally cause bother so it would need doing by the book according to whats legal in Scotland. If no permission is needed then I'll just tell him to bugger off.

As for designs Im not 100% sure. Id like to try my hand at Timber framing and could follow the project in a book I have, but I also like the other design Ive posted. But as there is such a nice view out over the fields and hills behind me Id like to put big windows in.

sheds dont need planning as long as they meet the permitted development spec.

Anything more than a shed and it would need proper insulated foundations.

Even if it was just a Summer House? Seems Summer Houses get a pass, but you're no allowed to live in them. Whats classed as living in them though?

just read up on permitted development, can do quite a lot. to live in it you need sewer, water, power etc.

Call the shed what you like it doesnt matter, why pay council tax , building regs, planning etc.

Fly under radar.

Ive been reading up on whats allowed in Scotland. Seems you can build Shed, Out Building, Summer house etc without much issue. I fit well within the criteria of land available and boundaries. But my Neighbors a cock and if my daughter slept in there he'd surely grass.

Interesting! Might be the way forward. Can you bring utilities up to it?
