Palax 100s

Hi peeps, I’m currently looking to upgrade my processor, I’ve been running a palax combi mobile from new (1999), it’s been a great machine but is suffering from fatigue! It’s done about 150t a year most years and up to 250t on a couple of cold ones plus a few hundred t for my charcoal kilns and some contract processing.

So I’m now looking at a palax 100s and would like to know how users rate them, we’re doing a lot more larger (15”) cord now and it’s a ball ache ringing it up before dropping in splitter, what are they like on crooked cord as the only vids I’ve seen are of gun barrel straight birch etc.

I’d also like to make it mobile and I have a good base trailer for it (big American thing), I’m not worried about weight (100s about1.7t) as have the means to move it about.

I would also like to know what would be a good size engine to run it off (500rpm for the hydraulics) on a 3 belt set up and wish to avoid big log deck but maybe fit a log lift like the mobile mills have.

You might think I’m barking but I’d like it to be as versatile/mobile as possible without forking out on another tractor (I’m upgrading to bigger chipper as well)

Thanks in advance

John

Can't speak for the processor but stick it on one of these low loaders and it's very mobile.
